PRIVATE COACHING

Theater and Film Acting are very different. For each, appropriate methodologies and techniques must be used. In Theater Acting, characters must be emotionally honest as they interact in a "bigger than life"arena. In Film, the intensity of feelings must be processed on camera in an intimate and personal milieu. In both Theater and Film the actor must be constantly in touch with the through-line of the piece, the literal and emotional subtext, and the obstacles and objectives of the characters.

Whether the actor is a seasoned professional or a beginner, my style of coaching is a client centered, transformational approach. It is my goal to help the actor learn who he is inside, letting down the barriers between himself and others, in order to honestly portray a character. While I have a strong background in the Stanislavski/Strasberg Method, Viola Spolin's improvisational approach, and Moreno's psychodrama, I believe that an actor must be open to many different methods of script analysis and character building. Whether preparing for an audition, rehearsing, or performing, the actor must feet confident being eclectic, using the skills that work best with a particular script.

Private coaching and resumé counseling also available at $85/hr.
